This Tuesday Amsterdam witnessed a Champion’s League match. The local leading team – Ajax received FC Sparta from the Czech Republic in the group stage of Champion’s League. Ajax won 2-1. Before this game Ajax have consolidated second place in the Group B table thanks to the two goals that ensured a 4-2 win in their last outing against FC Thun. A home win against AC Sparta Praha ensured Ajax qualification for the knockout stages. The game became more interesting by the end. De Jong stroke Sparta’s gates twice between 68 and 90 minutes. Czech football players only managed to score “a goal of prestige” when the match time was coming to a final whistle. The match was held up on Amsterdam Arena – the home stadium of Ajax.
